Opps, They Did it Again!

Have you ever watched a trailer and told yourself, "I know that story!"? After minutes of pondering you realize it’s from some popular movie or series or whatever that was from starring one of your favorite actor/actress. I just had this moment.

Thank you, ABS-CBN / Star Cinema, for providing evidence that you truly did copy the storyline for “One More Try”. If you haven’t heard of this news, care to check the link:
‘One More Try’ trailer invites comparison to 2008 Chinese film

What I mean to say is how ABS-CBN has made another copycat out of their new drama series. In case you haven’t seen it, Judy Ann is back to her roots through the upcoming teleserye “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala”

Remember that American drama thriller “Enough” with Jennifer Lopez as the lead character? They have the same storyline. Would have been perfect if they didn’t add the part where she trains to protect herself from the abusive husband. Because, let’s face it, that don’t happen in this country. We’re more of the suing nation fighting through words than those who stand up to protect our dignity by fighting through physical strength.  Or if it does, it isn’t common. Anyway, they could’ve improved on the story incorporating situations that can actually happen here. But as always, they chose the easy path to make money by producing something that they know would hit right off with the masses.

And with “One More Try, honestly, I think there’s actually no need to make a big fuss about it having the same plot as the Chinese movie if only the production team credited the latter movie or merely admitting to the public that it was an adaptation. However, they did nothing to clarify and ignored the controversy.

I just hope they don’t do the same thing with this new series. On the positive note, I’m looking forward to watching Juday back on TV. I must confess that her acting skills caught me here and is the only reason why I’d spend my precious time on it. And basing on the trailer, KC’s acting skills has greatly improved. Kudos to their acting workshop team! Admit it; her previous acting efforts were a waste of time. None of her dramas made an impression. The only reason it garnered much media attention is because of who she is and those… I’m not even going to continue! Ahaha. I want this to be positive for KC as I was really impressed by her short scene from the trailer. I’m really looking forward to watching more of her and the rest of the drama.

And to clarify things, I’m no fan of Judy Ann or KC or any local artist or Station. It’s pretty difficult to make me watch local dramas or movies as I find them too inferior, from storyline to casting. The local entertainment scene is such a cliché. The last Filipino commercial movie I spent my money on was way back in college and that was 5 years ago.  It was a Bea Alonzo movie. I think it was Sam Milby’s first movie and a part of it was shot right across our school, at Marco Polo Hotel Davao. Though I did watch “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank”, it was an indie film so it does not qualify for what I previously mean. And I watch Ina, Kapatid, Anak. You’re crazy if you didn’t notice the astounding acting of each of its stars.

Enough said.

Stay happy, healthy and safe everyone! Toodles! ^-^
