CITY HUNTER

I have been planning on blogging about this Korean drama since I started watching it last month. But due to my holiday activities, postponed the idea until further notice. Plus, I only finished the drama first week of this month. Since the drama is now showing on the Philippines’ local TV, I think it’s about time I share what I think about it.

City Hunter is indeed the best Korean drama I’ve seen, story wise. And contrary to my usual reason why I’d watch a drama, which is: hot lead male star, this one is all because of the story line. Unlike Lee Dong Wook, I am not really particular of Lee Min Woo’s look although I must admit; his height is his best asset according to my keen on”hot guy” eyes.  This is the 2nd drama I’ve seen with him on the lead after Boys Over Flowers and it was all worth it.

I absolutely love what they have done on the story, sticking to the main idea of revenge than slowly turning it into a love story but still staying true to what makes Korean dramas so popular. I definitely disagree with people saying that this drama is action and love story at the same time because it surely is not. It may have some love story scenes but it does not define the entirety of it. It is action but, sorry, not really at its best as the moves was pretty mediocre. I suggest you concentrate on the action the story portrays verbally instead of visually as that is its strongest point. In contrast to traditional dramas which will start on an idea, for this one its revenge, then as it progress will continue on (and most likely end) as a love story, City Hunter stayed faithful on revenge all throughout and instead just injected it with a little love on the side to ensure that the main character is still human. And not to forget the tinge of comedy that makes it all the more fun to watch.

My Favorite Parts:

1. When the main character, Lee Yoon Sung, told his father, Lee Jin Pyo, that he will take care of the people he love including him even after finding out the truth that he lied to him his whole life.

2. I love the comedic charms of Ajussi Bae Sik Joong with his addiction to TV shopping plus his relationship with Yoon Sung. My absolute favorite scene where he’s in was when he was meeting up with Yoon Sung inside the train after hiding in the trash.

3. When Yoon Sung kicked the ass off of Chun Jae Man’s bodyguard at the rally and eventually capturing him. I super hate the dude especially his eyeliner! LOL

4. When Yoon Sung went to look for the book containing the truth of what happened in 1983 that lead to the death of Prosecutor Kim Young Joo. It is so sad that he died in the story but his death didn’t go in vain as it made the story stronger and climactic even though it happened on the last episode.

5. Of course, the last episode. I didn’t quite expect it. I actually thought Lee Jin Pyo would kill Yoon Sung because he is just a puppet to ensure revenge on his real father. I love how they held hands while lying on the floor wounded. His father really loved him as his own son and nothing else.

It’s quite unusual that my favorite scenes do not include a single one with the lead actor and the leading lady. It is mainly because the story does not revolve in it and the most memorable scene does not include Kim Na Na in it or that Kim Na Na is just an accessory to that particular scene just like in the death of Lee Jin Pyo.

The last episode surely left me blown away. Not just because of how the story ended with Lee Yoon Sung trying to save both his fathers but because it left us to be imaginative on how we'd like it to end and at the same time making sure that we are satisfied with it. I must admit that I was a bit confused and had to watch it over again to really understand what the ending is trying to express. And the fact that I actually googled a transcription for it just so I can get another person's point of view on the finale.

In a scale of 1-5 with 5 the highest, I’d give this drama 5 stars for making me laugh, angry, and cry. I recommend it not only to those Korean drama fans, but to everyone who enjoys TV dramas. I am really hoping they make another one. In my understanding, this is the prequel to the story of the City Hunter in the manga series. So the next one, if they ever decide to do another, will probably be the real story of City Hunter who hunts corrupt officials in the government. Whatever it is, I will surely look forward to it.

Here's a transcription of the last episode: ( Beware, spoiler)

Enjoy and stay happy!

Do you think you'd be a great actor in a HORROR movie?

lol..nope.

wanna ask me something?

What's the last cartoon you watched?

Tom and Jerry

wanna ask me something?

Action and Gory goes very well together

Went to the big city yesterday to check out the job fair event at the mall but since I wasn't interested on any of the companies there, my friends and I decided to watch a movie instead. It was the best decision of the day. It was the opening day of one of my favorite vampire movie:

Underworld: Awakening

The movie was awesome. It felt like it only lasted for 30 minutes even though it was more than that. It started at around 3:45pm and we got out by 5:15. The whole time we kept saying "oohs and aahhs". And it was not jut because of the gory dead lycans or vamps but also because of the amazing action scene. My favorite part was inside the van when Selene's daughter ripped in half a lycan and threw it out afterwards. Action and gory at the same time, lol. It was so action packed and no minute was spared. There was no dull moment. Even though the love interest of the main character didn't have much screen time, you can divert your attention to the new vamp in the city. If I am not mistaken, the character's name is David played by Theo James.

I'm already looking forward to the next franchise. The ending was enough for audiences to anticipate the next movie. So love Kate Bekinsale kicking ass! Sexy and fierce. I highly recommend this movie. All the moneys worth. I only watched it in 2D but will definitely watch it again in 3D most probably by Monday when all the Sunday crowd is gone.

Anyway, here are more Theo for you all. Hot, hot, HOT!

The real vampires are back! Enjoy and stay happy everyone!

My only Wish this year...

For 2011, the only thing I asked for was that I'll be able to land a job. Thankfully, January of last year I did get a job. I lasted for almost 11 months including the 2 months I spent training. The job was...bearable. It wasn't all fun. Jobs ain't  supposed to be fun but working for that company was alright. There were times I felt like we are paid just to make conversations. Its nice to know that you are able to help out a customer as well as, if we don't have calls, sit around and chat with fellow technical support. The problem was with the people managing us. They definitely need some Management 101 classes. As well as some lesson in Business Etiquette.

Any way, if you are wondering what my job was... I was employed in a Business Process Outsourcing Company. They look for people who'll answer the Toll-free numbers you find in products. The account I handled was for an antivirus company. ( CLUE: The brand name is the last name of the dude who played HULK whose first name is Edward )

Here's a secret if you'd like to pay for only half the price for a whole year subscription. If you have just paid for a one year subscription of that antivirus, Call them up and ask for a refund. Pretend you don't like the product. The Support representative will make an offer. First they'll say they will add a few days or even 3 to 6 months of additional subscription on top of your 1 year just so you'll remain a customer. Say no and insist of a refund. They will again offer to refund half the money you paid for 1 year. With that, its already a good price. 50% off is a good deal. And if you get lucky, they will add days or months. That makes it 50% off for a 1 year subscription plus 30 - 90 days free on top of it. Just remember, don't be an ass while talking to the agent. ACT GOOD. If the support feels like your taking advantage of them being just a support representative, they'll agree on your request for a refund right away without retaining you. That ain't good at all.

Moving forward on my wish...

2012 will be my 25th year here on earth. I'm not gonna ask for a job again although I do need one. I already figured that one out. Tomorrow.. or better... later today, I'll be attending a job fair. Hope I can land one. So for this year, the only thing I wish is for me and 5 of my friends to go to either Singapore or Hongkong. I hope we can do it on the first half of this year for half the ticket price.

You see, here in the Philippines, airline companies offer promos for tickets. Just tonight, Cebu Pacific offered 1 Peso for all domestic and international flights. It  doesn't include taxes and other charges. But its way cheaper!

A Normal ticket price for Hongkong is 6,000 pesos. On a 1 peso fare promo, a round trip tickt is only below 3,000 pesos. The problem is...tickets get sold out easily and the website bugs down. And I mean slow as snail, worst it won't process the requests. And, oh yeah, did I mention I don't have a credit card to pay for the tickets online? I have to rely on a friend who is asleep right now but promised to get us the tickets tomorrow night. So I hope you guys can pray for me and my friends. Promo will last this 22. I really do pray we can get round trip tickets. I will not ask for anything for now, just this and I'll be the happiest person on earth.

That is it for me. Thank you all so much for reading my blog. I have to go to bed now so I'll look decent for the job fair.

Love and Happiness to everyone! ^^

Welcome 2012 and Favorite TH Pic of the Week

It has been a while since I last posted here. I thought by the start of the New Year it will be a lot less busy since the holidays are over. But I thought wrong. Although it is over, Family days aren’t. Anyways, a HAPPY NEW YEAR and a Happy 2012 everyone. I hope we all have a blessed, happy, and healthy year ahead.

And to start of this year, I will be posting my Favorite Tokio Hotel Pictures of the week. As it is the New Year, I have tried to clean up my computer with unnecessary files to no success as there are too much to sort over. However, was able to find these vintage pictures of the boys way back in the years. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I did. How I wish I can see them again looking so young and cute. Well, the cute part… they still are.

I always love this picture and its all Gustav’s fault! Look how cute he is. I wanna hug him tight! And Tom’s face, look at that. Kisses.

Another picture of Gustav and his cuteness together with mighty Georg. One of my all time favorite pictures of the G’s. Adorable!

Lastly, here’s an edited picture of Tom holding a baby. I forgot where I found it but I’m guessing on Tumblr.  Isn’t it so dreamy?? ^^

Happiness! ^^
